From Heart to Plate
Pleasure Platters was born from the passion and creativity of Kindle Burrows, a North Philadelphia native raised by her Great Grandmother. Watching her family cook, Kindle learned the power of food to bring joy. Inspired by the rich culture of her community, she turned her love for serving others into a business. After overcoming personal setbacks, Kindle launched Pleasure Platters, now a cherished part of the community.

I rolled up, grabbed their legendary “Long Day” platter, and instantly understood the name: a full pound of crab legs, jumbo shrimp, mussels, smoked sausage, corn, AND potatoes all tossed in Kindle’s spicy-but-sweet garlic-butter sauce. One forkful and my whole timeline went into flavor overtime. 🤤 Couldn’t stop there, so I added a side of fried shrimp (golden, crispy, perfectly seasoned) AND the Salmon Curry — salmon fillet simmered in a coconut-curry base with bell peppers, onions, and a surprise kick of Scotch bonnet. Trust me, your taste buds will catch the Holy Ghost. 🙌🏾🔥 Washed it all down with Kindle’s 10/10 Strawberry-Mango Lemonade — tropical, tangy, and allegedly contains sunshine in the recipe. 😎 And baby… don’t think I left without dessert. I had not one, but two slices of her famous pound cake — the Butter Pecan (nutty, rich, and moist) AND the Chocolate Pound Cake (deep, decadent, and absolutely necessary). Pound for pound? A spiritual experience. 🍰✨ Here’s the real tea: Kindle is running this Black-owned gem practically single-handed and dreams of upgrading to a bigger space so we can actually sit, sip cocktails, and maybe even vibe to a DJ. She’s got a GoFundMe up right now — hit her IG or website and throw some support her way. When she levels up, we ALL level up (and get more seating for seafood boils, let’s be real).
